app for caregivers
The AGIS Mobile app is designed to simplify the life of the everyday caregiver. The last thing a caregiver needs is to learn how to navigate through an application. I wanted the interface and page structure to be very intuitive therefore easy to use. Though not all screens are shown in this example I have added the level 1 section.
hub & spoke
Though I experimented with the Nested List and Bento Box IA models I found that the Hub and Spoke model worked best for this project. Keeping the content down to four main areas allowed me to create a very simple navigation.
early design concepts
Since the purpose of the app was to help simplify everyday caregiver tasks, I wanted the design to reflect the simplicity of the experience by giving it a very calming look and feel. In an earlier concept I used cool colors for the background with contrasting warm colors for functional elements. I also tried using background images in place of basic gradients to see what effect it would have on the design.
Ultimately, I felt the use of oranges and reds communicated a sense of intensity/urgency. By switching to shades of muted blues I felt it created a sense of trust and stability. Since I liked the idea of using purples I thought I'd try using some backgrounds that would incorporate the color.
